Well, the weatherman is telling us that this year’s winter
is historic in terms of the snowfall. For our Foundation and Region 14
students, it has also been an historic time. The new String Program, which
began in October 2010, has been a tremendous success! Forty 3rd, 4th
and 5th graders registered for the program. Harris Daigle, the
string teacher is doing a great job nurturing and developing the string
program. Parents of the string students are overjoyed with this rewarding
educational experience for their children.
As a foundation, we are bursting with pride at this
successful program launch.
However, our work is far from finished. The long-range goal
is to develop a full orchestral program for Region 14, incorporated into the school
day at all levels-elementary, middle and high school. Presently, the string
program is before school, and outside of the school curriculum. The foundation
cannot achieve this result by itself. We need the support of parents and the
community in moving the program into the school curriculum. We will be reaching
out to you in the coming months to start this process.
In addition, as a community foundation, we are interested in
funding musical experiences for Woodbury and Bethlehem residents. We realize that
we do not have a monopoly on great ideas. PLEASE CONTACT US WITH YOUR ADVICE
AND POSSIBILITIES!!
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
