Mission: The Region 14 Music Foundation, Inc. seeks to enhance community consciousness and enthusiasm for music activities and experiences to provide our students with valuable life learning and appreciation of music. The Foundation works to achieve these goals by funding enrichment programs for Region 14 students that foster innovation and creativity in music education.

Accomplishments

The Foundation funded its first enrichment program in April of 2006.
Region 14's third and fourth grade students were transported to the NHS
Auditorium and treated to the Connecticut Opera's production of Three
Billy Goats Gruff. The program featured music of Mozart and Rossini and
included a timely message in support of Region14's anti-bullying
campaign.

Pinocchio a hit!  (No lie.)

May 2007, The Foundation again brought in the Connecticut Opera to
present "Pinocchio".  The adaptation of the well known story was
set to the music of classical operas.  The students were enchanted
by the singers.

Goals

The Region 14 Music Foundation funds enrichment programs in music at each of the Region 14 schools throughout the academic year. In addition, the Foundation funds Mini-Grants to music students to help defray costs. Students can use these grants to attend a summer music camp, begin private instruction or engage in other activities that promote musical education. The Foundation, working with the Region 14 Music Program, plans to fund the implementation of a string music program in the Region 14 schools by 2010!
